Executive Summary

Fathuhulla Jameel is a chartered accountant and Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA). He has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, completed at Sunway University College, Malaysia.

Fathuhulla currently serves as the Co-Managing Partner at BDO Maldives LLP, where he plays a leading role in directing the firm’s audit practice, while also overseeing its advisory and tax services.
He is also a member of the Technical and Standards Committee at the Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives), contributing to the development and implementation of accounting and auditing standards in the Maldives.

With over 17 years of experience in taxation, auditing, risk management and accounting, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the Maldives tax system. His career in public service began in 2003 at the Department of Inland Revenue (DIR), steadily rising through the ranks until the establishment of the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) in 2010. He served as Director General of Revenue Services and later Director General of Audit and Investigation, contributing significantly to tax education and awareness efforts in the country.

In 2019, he was appointed Commissioner General of Taxation. Before this appointment, he worked as Manager- Tax, Risk and Compliance at Dhiraagu further solidifying his expertise in financial governance. His leadership and contribution to taxation has been widely recognized, earning respect from peers in the legal and accounting communities.
